Independent Committee Members
Oil Search launched its ICM programme in 2016 to help expand PNG’s pool of skilled business leaders, provide director training and experience as well as provide its board members with access to local experience and insights.
The programme includes successive two-year appointments to the People and Nominations Committee, Sustainability Committee and Audit and Financial Risk Committee of the Oil Search board of directors.
Ms Winifred Amini is an Independent Committee Member (ICM) of the People and Nominations Committee. She was previously an ICM of the Audit and Financial Risk Committee.Winifred has over 20 years’ experience and has worked extensively in the execution of Digital and ICT Transformation projects within the financial and superannuation industry, PNG regulatory authorities, and in the Public sector. She is currently the Head of Projects for Kina Bank and has also served as Chief Information Officer at POST PNG from 2006-2009, during a time coming out of crisis and into rehabilitation.She holds a Masters in Business specializing in Entrepreneurship from the University of Queensland Australia and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (with Merit) from the University of Technology, Papua New Guinea.
Ms Jennifer Baing-Waiko is an Independent Committee Member (ICM) of the Audit and Financial Risk Committee. She was previously an ICM of the Sustainability Committee.Jennifer has extensive experience in program management coordinating innovative projects with local communities emphasising the importance of agro-ecology, environmental stewardship and food security for long term sustainability.Jennifer has also worked for various International NGOs such as the World-Wide Fund for Nature, Greenpeace International and Coral Reef Alliance.Jennifer has served on several boards and committees in various roles most notably as an ICM of the Sustainability Committee to the Board of Oil Search Limited, a company with award winning leadership in social responsibility.
Ms Mary Johns is an Independent Committee Member of the Sustainability Committee.Mary is a lawyer by profession and has been in legal practice in Papua New Guinea for 24 years. She worked in private practice for 5 years and then joined Bank South Pacific as a legal officer in July 2002. She was appointed as Company Secretary in 2005 and currently holds that role to date.Mary is currently a Committee Member of the PNG Men’s National Soccer League, Secretary of the Capital Rugby Union, the Treasurer of the PNG Women Lawyers Association, and the current Chair of Leadership PNG.Mary is also a director on the CPL Group of Companies, a company listed on the PNGX and Jack's PNG Limited, a subsidiary JV of the CPL and Jack's Fiji Limited. Mary previously served on Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce and the 2015 Pacific Games Organising Committee Board.Mary has participated in the Oil Search ICM programme since 2016. She has previously served as an Independent Committee Member of the of People and Nominations Committee and the Audit and Financial Risk Committee.
Mr Richard Kuna is an Independent Committee Member (ICM) of the Sustainability Committee. He was previously an ICM of the People and Nominations Committee and the Audit and Financial Risk Committee.Richard has over 26 years of professional experience in audit and advisory services including financial statements audits, internal audits, compliance audits, company valuations and due diligence assignments with KPMG across a broad range of industries including mining, petroleum, financial services, transportation and retail. He spent more than 19 years with KPMG of which 7 years were as Audit Partner thereby becoming the first PNG national to reach such a position in any of the big4 accounting firms in the world.Richard is widely respected by the business community including having direct access to and trusted professional relationships with numerous Board Chairmen, General Managers, CEO, MDs, and financial controllers of multitude of PNG entities over his 26 year professional career.
Mr Ganjiki Wayne is an Independent Committee Member (ICM) of the People and Nominations Committee. He was previously an ICM of the Sustainability Committee.Ganjiki is a passionate Papua New Guinean lawyer, aspiring writer and speaker. He graduated from the University of Papua New Guinea with Honours in 2008 and was admitted to practice law in Papua New Guinea in November that year. He completed postgraduate studies in the field of legislative drafting, from the University of South Pacific (Post Graduate Diploma, 2012) and has a Masters of Law from the University of London (2016).In 2015-16 Ganjiki underwent a Masters in Law program at the School of Advanced Study under the University of London, as an awardee of the prestigious Chevening Scholarship. Upon his return he (and his wife) started his speaking and coaching business, Attitude Plus. He resigned from his position as Principal Legal Officer, International Law, in the Office of the State Solicitor, to pursue private practice. He currently owns and operates his law firm, Kessadale Lawyers.Ganjiki is currently a Member of the PNG Bible Translation Association Board, He is also Chairman of his local church Tokarara Christian Fellowship.
Mr Desmond Yaninen is an Independent Committee Member (ICM) of the Audit and Financial Risk Committee. He was previously an ICM of the People and Nominations Committee.Des is a young Papua New Guinean business leader passionate about empowering Papua New Guineans through entrepreneurship. He has worked in the development finance industry for well over a decade. He is currently the Founder and CEO of Pacifund - a new Peer to Peer Lending platform for the Pacific.Prior to that, Des spent 13 years at the National Development Bank of PNG (NDB) in various senior roles including CEO of NDB Investments. Notable achievements include the development of their Women in Business and Young Enterprise Scheme concessional loan programs.Des sits on several boards and committees including the PNG SME Corporation, Oil Search Audit and Financial Risk Committee, PNG Institute of Directors, and St John’s Ambulance. He is also the current President of the PNG MSME Council.
